3 Fearless Awards

It’s almost 1am and we are still sitting in front of our computers listening to the brandnew sensational single “Get Lucky” from Daft Punk feat. Pharrell when we receive the great news that 3 of our wedding pictures managed to win fearless awards in the most recent collection! We can’t describe how happy we are! Our pictures have won multiple awards recently in all major leagues but haven’t won fearless awards for a longer time! It just all depends on the taste of the jury! We guess this time we got lucky, very nicely fitting to the song we’re listening! You can view our award-winning pictures here (the whole collection is truly nice and pretty worth seeing, even for non-wedding photographers). And finally, the wedding season 2013 is kicking off! We are flying to Budapest to capture the wedding of Kersin & Gabor at the weekend! Guys, we are so looking forward to see you again!

Retro America 2012

After the wedding season 2012 finished we traveled in the west of the USA for a couple of weeks. It is well-known that the USA are a very civilized and top-modern country. However, in the wide open spaces of the west you get a very special feeling of freedom and wildwest-adventure. Far away from the big cities our little travel back in time begins. We enjoy the nativeness of Utah, the unbelievable sunsets on the notorious Mother Road Route 66 in Arizona and fall in love with the special Californian way of life “take it easy – go with the flow”. It is absolutely amazing how many relicts from the past you find just along the road if you just keep your eyes open. Above all, the old, almost forgotten motels in the middle of nowhere attract our attention. Even in Las Vegas, the center of modern show business, you can still feel like being in the 70s in downtown and in the old casinos on the strip. Eventually, we even meet two Las Vegas dinosaurs “Siegfried and Roy” and notice that the carpets in the casinos really look like in the movies. Enjoy the pictures!

Engagement Shooting in Los Angeles / Venice Beach

Actually we were on vacation and planned not to use our cameras for a couple of days. But then, it was just too tempting to make a shooting in such an exciting, vibrant city as Los Angeles. It is well-known that opinions widely diverge when it comes to LA. Some hate it, some love it. We definitely belong to the ladder group of people. For some reason we are always lucky and meet amazingly friendly and cool people when we are in town.
Edwin & Loriana are an adorable, warm-hearted couple from Los Angeles and get married in July. We have known them for several years when Kai studied abroad in LA. Together we spent a beautiful day shooting at locations in downtown and Venice Beach, which ended with a terrific dinner in Malibu.
A photo shoot in Los Angeles is a photographer’s dream, yet alone because of the beautiful light. Southern California has a very warm and beautiful late afternoon sunlight, which is also known as magic hour sunlight. On the other hand, Los Angeles is a gigantic city with enormous dimensions which are sometimes hard to grasp, especially for us Europeans. The long busy drives from downtown to Venice Beach / Santa Monica can be pretty stressful, in particular if you don’t know appropriate shooting locations. Luckily, we were greatly supported by a very renowned and talented wedding photographer from Los Angeles called Laura Grier from BeautifulDayPhotography. Without Laura’s countless location recommendations our shooting could not have taken place in such a variety. So thank you again, Laura!
Last but not least, for all the photo tech geeks out there: throughout the whole shoot the brandnew Canon 24-70mm, 2.8. II lens was used on a 5D Mk III camera body. The lens is a terrific piece of equipment, which also proved of great value during our subsequent photo project in California (pictures coming soon). Enjoy!
